To the mineworkers and workers in US
We have followed your struggle against a vicious Company, and we support you all the way. Your fight is our fight. And it’s important to defend principles. This fight is about one of the fundamental principles.
The very fact that you have to fight for the right to speak the truth about the conditions in a company tells a lot about the situation for worker in the US today. We can se the reports of accidents with workers killed and injured in the mines. At the same time we can read about how the Companies violate the safety regulations. It’s a disgrace. Of course one has to changes that situation, that money comes in front of people’s lives. And that it has to become a public discussion about that fact.
It seems that the company wants the exclusive right to the freedom of speech, in fact they want to privatise it.
As in Sweden the companies also want to attack the “whistleblower” and representatives of the union who defend the workers conditions and while doing so they are using the media to explain the situation. They do that of course to intimidate others.
That’s why it’s important for the whole union to take actions in support and solidarity actions.
Our local union is involved in a fight for safety and security in the Stockholm subways and the Company Connex has sacked the president of the local union because he spoke out in the media.
In your case we will see how the coming decision from the Judge in Utah about the lawsuit will be. Hopefully the Judge denies the Company’s claims.
In our case it can take 9 to 10 months before it comes up in the tribunal court.
So keep up the good work, it will lead to victory.
Comradely greetings
Per Johansson
